Beaded Beach Buddies
Look at the cute "beach buddies" that Tanya Estrada of South Bay Union School District in San Diego, CA, created at the Afterschool Leadership Conference in Palm Springs this weekend. This is a great school age project and can be completely open ended. Simply leave out bags of soft bead sculpture wire (TWIST), People Wood Beads (FACEBEAD) and mixed wooden beads (WOODBEAD).
Isn't this a great idea for an easy paper quilt? I was so impressed when I saw this colorful display at the Lennox School District in Los Angeles. You could adapt it to a preschool classroom quilt, an afterschool club quilt, a mommy and me group or use this same concept for any group at all.
Simply cut out paper squares, outline the diagonal quilt square lines with a pencil, have participants design their square using markers, oil pastels, or colored pencils. The little white ribbon bows makes it look like a real quilt, since fabric quilts traditionally included little bows like these. Mount on black paper with staples.
